5.The User Guide of Automotive Beam Steel

♦ The plasticity of beam steel tends to decline with the increasing temperature, which should be taken into consideration in the process of part design.

♦ After the formation of beam parts, they are extremely easy to be springback and twisted. Due to this reason, the higher strength of steel is, the more obvious this trend becomes. Hence, it must be taken into account during design and use of moulds as well as design parts devising.

♦ The unsuitable gap in shearing operation will lead to fissuring of cutting or microfissure. It is easy to crack during forming. In the mean time,  the low quality shearing section will become source of endurance crack. Therefore, the right tool should be chosen and the proper gap be measured in the process of shearing. Otherwise, the blade edge is likely to be damaged and even to collapse.

♦ When automotive beam steel is being rolled, sheared and pressed, it needs to be considered that curved fillet and angle will affect the quality as well as the condition of shearing edges.

♦ Using automotive beam steel, as the strength increases,  customers demand higher capability of forming and blanking devices. The forming equipment needs to undergo tests to check whether its tonnage reaches required standard.

♦ If deviation from shape occurring in high strength structural steel parts were to be corrected, the technique called cold straightening would be adopted. And the method of hot straightening should be used for special cases. Nevertheless, the temperature is better not be above 550°c-580°c.

♦ Plasma cutting machine can be used for cutting steel. Supposing that the dimensions of strucatural components are very large, customers can use the technique named breaking point cutting as far as possible in order to control the shape.
